La Loma Luz is a full service hospital providing quality healthcare in the Cayo district. Overnight stays at Loma Luz costs are $37.50 USD in the general ward and $75 USD for a private room. This is just the cost for the stay any other medications, time, etc. is billed separately. There are several physicians and specialists available. For a general consultation the cost is $20 USD, Gynecologist $25 USD, Pediatrician $20 USD and for a Specialist $30 USD.

Gout medicine is very cost effective in Belize and available over the counter (Allopurinol 300 mg box of 20 tablets cost is $5 USD). Some drugs that are normally available via prescription only in North America are available OTC, but for most of them you would need a prescription. For example penicillin requires a prescription.
